Lucas Gives An HSM3 Update

According to one of the stars of the Disney franchise, rehearsals for the filming of High School Musical 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah begin in just a few days.

Lucas Grabeel posted on his official forums yesterday afternoon that in a couple days Marc [Blackwell, his roommate] and I are going to go to Utah to start rehearsals for HSM3. We’ll be there for 4 months!

Hey everyone!

Marc told me that he put a newer version of our message board online and that I should go check it out and post on it. Sorry it’s taken me a while to log on but everything looks great! Thanks for rejoining and keeping this site positive.

Here’s a little bit about what’s going on in my life right now. Things are very exciting with many projects in the works and planned for the future.

The Adventures of Food Boy is in final post stages and it’s looking great. I saw a rough cut of it and think it’s awesome.

Alice Upside Down has been doing very well in festivals around the country.

Lock and Roll Forever is being cut right now but I’m really excited about this movie. It’s really different from anything I’ve done and very fun.

College Road Trip is in theaters now and that was a lot of fun to work on too.

I just wrapped on Milk the movie I worked on in San Francisco. This was one of my favorite projects so far. Learning historical characters and working on something that’s important changes your perception on a lot of things. I feel very blessed and lucky to have worked on Milk and I learned a lot from everyone.

I’m starting a production company called 14341 Productions and already we’ve worked on a couple projects. One, Get Your Ass On, a music video that’s been in Missouri film festivals and looks really good. I shot it with a friend of mine, Kelly [King, production assistant to HSM director Kenny Ortega], who’s also involved in 14341 and he helped me make another short called The Real Son. We filmed that during the filming of HSM2. We’re also in post of another short entitled The Adventures of Chuckle Boy. We shot a pilot presentation that’s currently in post and we’re all really excited about that. It’s a fun and exciting tv show for kids and it’s cool!

We’re also coming up with, working on and creating other shorts, various projects, music videos and have plans in the future to move on to full length features!

In a couple days Marc and I are going to go to Utah to start rehearsals for HSM3. We’ll be there for 4 months!

Life is very exciting and I’m very very blessed. I appreciate everything that I have in my life from good friends, to good fortune, to good all the people around me. Thank you for everything and stick around. We’ll be providing links, downloads and all sorts of information on what’s coming up. It’s a very bright and promising future and I’m very excited about it.

Vanessa’s New Album and Single

Some of you may have heard that Vanessa has a new album in the works. Her second album is currently expected to be released on June 24, 2008 but that date could change.

It has been revealed that the first single from Vanessa’s new album will be released on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show in early April. Three titles have been confirmed for the album; Whisper, It Feels Right, and I Will, however it has been reported that I Will and three other songs will no longer be on the album.

Additionally, it is rumored that Vanessa may be doing a song with Timbaland. It’s unofficial but Hollywood Records has stated that they would like to see this happen.

High School Musical 3

The whole High School Musical gang will be in theaters this fall with High School Musical 3: Senior Year opening October 24. Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman are all set to return for the final High School Musical sequel.

Kenny Ortega will be back to direct HSM3 and will center around their senior year and the prospect of Troy and Gabriella going away to different colleges. The drama will of course be combined with preparation for the spring musical!

HSM TV, DVD player, and iPod Dock

There are some new High School Musical gadgets out, and if you ask me they’re totally cute! First up is the High School Musical TV. It’s a 15″ LCD tv with a red school locker theme. The lockers seem to open up so you can store the remote. It’s going for $284.99 on Amazon and in the Status Quo Shop. It’s also been seen at Costco, and I would expect to find it in Target stores soon.

The High School Musical DVD Player is the perfect companion to the tv. It has the same red locker theme and stands upright. The locker door opens to reveal the dvd. You’ll be able to get it for $69.99

Finally, the High School Musical iPod Dock/Clock Radio would be the pefect edition to any fan’s room. There is an ipod dock inside the red locker door that fits most ipods, but it also has an aux in jack. That means you can plug in any music player that you can plug headphones into. There’s also a clock with an alarm feature and AM/FM radio. Pick up this great gadget for $59.99.

High School Musical 2 on DVD and Blu-Ray

The release date for High School Musical 2 on DVD has just been announced. High School Musical 2 will be released on DVD December 11, 2007. For the first time ever, High School Musical 2 will also be released on Blu-Ray disc. For those of you who aren’t sure, Blu-Ray disc is one of the new high definition disc formats on the market. Blu-Ray discs only play in a Blu-Ray player, so if you get the movie on Blu-Ray be sure you have a player for it (just like a DVD won’t play in a regular CD player).

The DVD is called High School Musical 2: Extended Edition and it features an all new, never before seen musical number; the song that Troy and Sharpay rehears but never perform. You’ll recognize Humuhumunukunukua’pua’a from the bonus track on the CD, performed with Ryan rather than Troy.

High School Musical: Extended Edition special features include

• Sing Along with High School Musical 2 – On screen lyrics for all the songs from the movie let viewers join in with their favorite stars

Site Updates

Here are a few site updates I’d like to point out. I’ve updated the gallery in a big way. It was a bit sad before, but there are now High Quality promos and stills from both movies as well as the Dance-Along segments, even the HSM2 Dance Along which will premiere in September.

Status Quo is now on twitter! Twitter is a popular new website that lets users post updates. This is the newest way to get all the High School Musical news as soon as it’s posted. If you’re on twitter, just start following hsmstatusquo at twitter.com/hsmstatusquo. It’s the only High School Musical twitter!

I’ve made some updates to the Status Quo Shop including a new Back to School section which features not only HSM branded school goodies, but backpacks and other school supplies that look like those in the movie. I really tried to figure out what backpack everyone was using!
